On May 22, 1916 the Yonkers Fire Department became 100 percent motorized. The event was marked by a large parade in which both horse drawn apparatus and the new motorized apparatus participated.

Motorized Apparatus

First motorized Eng

Placed in service early 1911, Shonnard Place Station.  Chassis and engine of this apparatus was that of a "Thomas Touring Car" and was equipped with a "Webb" pump. 

75 foot Aerial

Placed in service 1913, equipped with Hand Cranked 75 foot Aerial Ladder, front wheel drive, straight body and Tiller wheel.

Placed in service 1913, equipped with chain drive.

Above are the first Automobile's to be used by Department. The make of the vehicle is a 1913 White's Automobile.
